All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) King's Soul is the First true 3-D Wrestling game from Human. Their first 3-D Effort, Iron Slam 96 was an experiment with the Firepro engine that didn't work out. King's Soul was built from the ground up with it's own engine. The game captured the Puroresu environment with Entrances, Streamers and commentary. As a result, American Purogamers raved about the gameplay which included "Fighting Spirit" (Powerballs) that a player could use to do More Powerful moves or even use to kick out of ANY pin or submission attempt. It truly added something special to the gameplay. This engine would later go on to power the King of Colosseum Series of Games with tweaks to the gameplay including the loss of the ability to kick out of pins with "Fighting Spirit" (Powerballs), much to the chagrin of fans.

The game featured commentary which was a new feature for most fans. AJPW Legend Shohei "Giant" Baba actually did commentary for this game but passed away before shortly before the game's release. The game was not changed in the two months between his passing and the release of the game.
